Founded in Kolkata in 1982 by theater practitioner Naveen Kishore, Seagull Books began as a dedicated publisher for theater and the arts. The company has since expanded its scope to include world literature, critical theory, and non-fiction. It currently operates with registered divisions in London and New York City alongside its original base in India.
