Decade is a collection of Alexi Lubomirski’s fashion and portrait photography from 2003 to 2013. His rich and textured body of work contains striking studio photography, narrative fashion spreads in exotic locations, and portraits of actors and celebrities such as Cate Blanchett, Victoria Beckham, Heidi Klum, Kirsten Dunst, Charlize Theron, Kate Winslet, Scarlett Johansson, and Ewan McGregor in an array of settings. Lubomirski’s Decade contrasts images that play off one another, using similarities in narrative, form, or subject matter to create a coherent visual story that offers more than just a catalogue of individual images. Lubomirski was born in England to a Peruvian mother and a Polish father. He developed a serious interest in photography while traveling in Peru during college. His interest later shifted from social commentary to narrative-based fashion photography while he was enrolled at the University of Brighton in the UK. Shortly after finishing his studies he was introduced to Mario Testino, whom he assisted for the next four years, living and working in Paris and London. Since then Lubomirski has become an established name within the fashion industry. He has an impressive client list, shooting for such publications as Harper’s Bazaar US, Harper’s Bazaar UK, German Vogue, Russian Vogue, Spanish Vogue, GQ USA, Chinese Vogue, Vogue Nippon, China Men’s Vogue and Wonderland.
