Tschabalala Self

Born in 1990, Tschabalala Self is an American artist recognized for her mixed-media portraits of Black female figures. She constructs quilt-like works on canvas using paint, fabric, and repurposed materials to challenge stereotypes and explore alternative narratives. Drawing inspiration from the history of the African-American experience, she currently lives and works in Hudson, New York.
