Steven Runciman

Sir Steven Runciman was an English historian and Byzantinist best known for his three-volume work, A History of the Crusades, published between 1951 and 1954. While he described himself as a writer of literature rather than a historian, his research significantly shaped the Western perception of the Crusades. He famously characterized the Crusades as a long act of intolerance in the name of God.
