Orphism

Orphism refers to a collection of religious beliefs and practices originating in the ancient Greek and Hellenistic world. These traditions are associated with literature attributed to the mythical poet Orpheus, who is known for his journey into the underworld. The movement functioned as a reform of the earlier Dionysian religion, incorporating elements of pre-Socratic philosophy and re-interpreting the myth of Dionysus alongside Hesiod's Theogony.
