John Waters

John Samuel Waters Jr. is an American filmmaker, actor, writer, and artist born in 1946. He gained prominence in the 1970s for transgressive cult films such as Multiple Maniacs, Pink Flamingos, and Female Trouble. His later work includes the comedy Hairspray, as well as films like Polyester, Serial Mom, and Cecil B. Demented, which are characterized by elements of post-modern comedy and surrealism.
