Harold Rosenberg

Harold Rosenberg was an American writer, educator, philosopher, and art critic. He is best known for coining the term Action Painting in 1952 to describe the movement later identified as abstract expressionism. From 1962 until his death in 1978, he served as the art critic for The New Yorker.
