G. E. Bentley

Gerald Eades Bentley (1901–1994) was an American literary scholar and academic. He is best known for his seven-volume work, The Jacobean and Caroline Stage, published by Oxford University Press between 1941 and 1968. Modeled after the work of Edmund Kerchever Chambers, Bentley's research remains a standard and essential reference for the study of English Renaissance theatre.
