Franz Grillparzer
Franz Grillparzer (1791–1872) was an Austrian writer and the preeminent dramatist of the 19th century. His plays remain a staple of the repertoire at the Burgtheater in Vienna. Beyond his theatrical contributions, he is noted for composing the funeral oration for Ludwig van Beethoven and the epitaph for Franz Schubert, both of whom were his close personal friends.
