Fernand Braudel

Fernand Braudel (1902–1985) was a prominent French historian and a central figure of the Annales School. His extensive scholarship focused on three major projects: The Mediterranean, Civilization and Capitalism, and the unfinished Identity of France. Through his leadership of the Annales School during the 1950s and 1960s, he significantly influenced historical research by emphasizing the role of large-scale socioeconomic factors in the study of history.
